Christmas Eve in a little country church

Christmas-15-0034Those who were able to experience the Christmas Eve Liturgy at the parish were treated to a very special gift of music thanks to the kindness and talents of the Knights and Weevers Family. Their keyboard, viola, French horn, and trumpet brought a deeply moving touch to the Christmas Eve Service.

Susan and Jonathan Knights are local musicians and educators. Their daughter, Shannon, and her husband, Scott, play in The Toronto Symphony Orchestra, The National Ballet Orchestra, and Tafelmusik. Their music added a festive air and also deepened the experience of Christmas and reflection of its meaning. Young Nathan and Emily assisted by ‘conducting’ the ensemble at appropriate points in the Service. Blessings and profound thanks to Susan, Jonathan, Shannon, and Scott for their Christmas gift! Blessings to each of them and to Emily and Nathan.

The church was comfortably filled with about fifty people from the parish, the local community, Lakefield, and from Peterborough.

There is a tendency, in reading the Christmas Story, to overlook what that innkeeper in particular actually contributed on that night so long ago. With that in mind and in light of the hardships faced by so many in the world to find a safe home in these days, here is a special Christmas Eve story written especially for you.

Blessings to you at Christmas!
