On 14 September, the parish celebrated Holy Cross Day. The colour for the day according to the Church calendar was red which made this day a Red Letter Day. But we had another feast to celebrate as well which made this Sunday a double Red Letter Day for the parish. Although the actual date of her birthday was on Monday, 15 September, her ACW sisters chose Holy Cross Day to celebrate Jean’s ninetieth birthday in the parish.
Her ACW sisters decided, months ago, to recognize Jean in a very special way at the time of her birthday. They wanted to say how much they have appreciated her long service as a member of the ACW and her faithful service in the parish over so many years. During the Service, the ACW presented Jean with a beautifully framed tribute that commemorated this day and included the National ACW hymn. Afterward, there was a tasty ham with scallop potatoes lunch, complete with a special birthday cake for all to enjoy.
Happy Ninetieth Birthday to Jean and Blessings to her and to each member of her family.
